Puerto Vallarta

Offering both natural beauty and traditional Mexican culture, Puerto Vallarta remains as one of the most popular beach vacation destinations in Mexico. Located along Banderas Bay, the second largest bay in the Western Hemisphere, Puerto Vallarta combines its beautiful beaches with the unforgettable backdrop of the Sierra Madre Mountains. As part of the state of Jalisco, Puerto Vallarta maintains an average temperature of 27° C (80° F) and is well known for its many forests, rivers and waterfalls.

Puerto Vallarta set the scene in the 1963 movie, “The Night of the Iguana” starring Ava Gardner and Richard Burton. Film director John Huston captured this picturesque city in his movie which set the building blocks for Puerto Vallarta’s tourism industry. Playa Mismaloya as a result, is considered a celebrity hangout and its striking rock formations that manifest from the waters of the bay make it a luxurious location to visit.

Ecotourism is huge in Puerto Vallarta and you can choose from a number of activities to keep yourself occupied. Whale-watching, kayaking, diving, hiking and mountain biking the Sierra Madre foothills are popular amongst tourists who want to partake in Puerto Vallarta’s natural beauty. Also a popular activity is sport fishing as Puerto Vallarta hosts the International Sailfish Fishing Tournament every year in November.

The cobblestone streets of downtown display the poignant cathedral, various shops, galleries with local art and restaurants to capture the regional flavor of Puerto Vallarta and its state of Jalisco. The famous malecon or seawall is lined with amorous bronze sculptures against the backdrop of the sea and is a great place to go shopping, dine at sunset or enjoy the sights and sounds of this breathtaking city.

Without sacrificing its charms, Puerto Vallarta offers a vacation that is traditional, beautiful and relaxing…...a perfect vacation getaway.
