Guadalajara

 

Located in the capital city of the state of Jalisco, Guadalajara is one of the most characteristic cities in Mexico. Known for its mild, spring-like climate, Guadalajara is a land of traditions, customs, culture and folklore.

 

Birthplace of mariachi music, charrería (horsemanship), and Tequila, Guadalajara is a city that combines the modern world with tradition. Full of architecture, tree-lined boulevards, parks, and plazas, Guadalajara is lovingly named "La Perla Tapatia" (Pearl of the West) and “Ciudad de las Rosas” (City of the Roses).

 

Throughout the centuries, the city has become rich in history, and to this day, many of the historic colonial buildings in the heart of the city remain for all to enjoy. Most popular are the Cathedral, the Cabañas Cultural Institute (declared a World Heritage site by the UNESCO in 1997) which houses murals by José Clemente Orozco, the Degollado Theater, its many squares and fountains have given the city international distinction.

Every year Guadalajara hosts an International Mariachi Fair, Book Fair and Mexican Film Festival. Above all, Guadalajara is known for its hospitality and warmth of the people who are waiting to welcome you to their beloved city.
